History of Shree Rampurush Mandir

Shree Rampurush of Veroda (वेर्डे ), Kulpurush of Daivadnya Brahman Lotlikar, Kaudinya Gotre.
The History is dated back to Pre-Portuguese in Goa, showing clearly evidence of Daivadnya Lotlikar Kulpurush at Lotlium village in salcette, where original shree Ramnath Devasthan & panchaystan existed.
The Portuguese Inquisition era in the 16th and 17th centuries when the zeal of conversion and iconoclastic was at its peak, the notorious Inquisition ordered the destruction of temples and hence when this news reached the devotees, they fled with their respective deities to places outside the Portuguese domain, for example,  Shree Ramnath  from Loutulim to Ramnathim(Bandoda), Shree Navdurga from Ganvshi village in the Tiswadi taluka to Madkai in Ponda taluka, Shree Mangesh of Kutthali or Kushasthali (Cortalim) was shifted to Hadiye-Priol in November 1560, Shree Shantadurga from Kelshi  was shifted to Kavlem in 1567, Shree Mahalsa from Verna to Mardol in 1560, Shree Kamakshi devi  from Rai to Shiroda, Shree Vijaydurga from Sancoale to Keri, Shree Laxmi Narasimha from Sancoale to Veling, Shree DevkiKrishna from Chodan to Mashel, and several other deity temples were shifted, in order to protect the Hindu identity of temple & deities.
This village was erstwhile know as “Lattlur” or “Lottalpur”. After the invasion in the 15th century, and due to atrocities and conversion to Christianity, there was a major exaudus of Traditional Hindus, along with their Kuladevat and kulpurush( Community Deities and family Deities), to safer places dominated by Hindu.

Similar way some Lotlikar Kulavi migrated with their Kulpurush Shree Rampurush, from Loutulim (Lotli) to the place known as Veddy. (Veroda Cuncolim) located under the chhatrachhaya of Shree Chandreshwar Bhootnath of Paroda and Surrounded by other holy temples of Shree Shantadurga Verdekarin, Shree Ramnath Betal and other temples, collectively known as “ Saat Devla”  or  Seven Temples, in the Antruz Mahal of Hindu  Raja, Majesty Shri Sondekar province, and established their Kulpurush matti (ShreeRampurush Matti), at this place Lotlikar Kulavi continued religious and scared services of their Kulpurush without any disturbance from Portuguese-rulers.

As the years passed and family expands some Lotlikar families migrated to different villages in Goa, and settled in order to carry out their livelihood, mainly involved in making gold ornaments and some where involved in other trades.

At one point of time this Matti of Kulpurush was almost abandoned, at that time continuous devoted services of Shri. Pandurang Yesoo Lotlikar & Smt. Rukaminibai Pandurang Lotlikar, of veroda (वेर्डे ) , who alone continued with religious and scared services of their Kulpurush for pretty long time.

Until than many of Lotlikar’s had the belief and faith that their Kulpurush is symbolically represented by the Shriphaal in their Pooja Graha (देवघर), it was only in  the later part in 1966, Late Shri.  Raghuveer Narayan Lotlikar, took active participation in temple activities, and formed first Devasthan Committee Mandal, with the help of other Lotlikar Mahajan’s, he contributed  in renovating  temple and built Sabhamandap at the place of existing Old temple as per Hindu calendar tithi VAISHAKH SHUKLA THRAYODASHI SHAKE 1888 (* On 28th April 1966, which was later again renovated in the year 2005) and new Murthi Pran Prtisthapana made as per vedic practice on 2nd May 1966, involving all Daivadnya Lotlikar’s irrespective of their belief towards Kulpurush existence. This is supposed to be the first Known grand function of festivals with total involvement of all Daivadnya Lotlikars, With Tan Man Dhan.

In the year 1988, late Shri. Gangaram Ramchandra Lotlikar &  his Family of Dandora Cuncolim, and   Shri Yeshwant Pandurang Lotlikar  of Veroda (वेर्डे ) gifted  their ancestral land having total area of 2000 Sq.mt   to their Kulpurush Shree Rampurush Mandir Society, for total inclusiveness of temple.

For many years late Shri. Gangaram Ramchandra Lotlikar of Dandora Cuncolim, & Shri Yeshwant Pandurang Lotlikar of Veroda, were regularly performing temple rituals of Kulpurush Shree Rampurush for a long time, Later all the temple rituals and nitty Seva were manged by Poojari.

On 9th May 2005, Re-construction work of  Sabhamandap of Shree Rampurush Mandir was completed and inaugurated in the auspicious hands of Shree Shree Parama Pujya Sacchidananda Jnaneshwar Bharati  Maha swamji of Daivadnya Brahman Math – Karki, Karnataka.

With kind and generous donation of all Lotlikars the temple now has a beautiful double stories Agarshala with office and eight room on ground floor and hall and kitchen on top.

Two Pravesh Dwar , OvaliKatta,Brahman Pedh which makes the place serene and sacred to all of us. The new temple was constructed in 2000-2003 in two phases and Punar Pratishtapana was done in the year 2001.

Today the Daivadnya Lotlikar stand prominently as united well organized community amongst all the Daivadnya, thanks to our elders who left for us in inheritance this beautiful legacy of unity and integrity. At present our Kulavi’s are spread at different parts of India and they visit with great enthusiasm to our Kulpurush annual ustav’s Like ” Kulgath” – Samrahdhana Ustav and  Shree Rampurush Vardhapan Din, and other festivals of  Shree Rampurush temple like, Amavasya, Gudi Padwa, Makar Sanskranti, Shravan Somvar, Navratra Gatsthapna, Lalitha Panchami, Durgashtami, Tulsi-Vivah, and  Chatroustav at shree shantadurga  Verodekarin Saunsthan.
