“KULPURUSH”  : –  Is the  progenitor (पूर्वज) of the clan (कुळ).`Kul’ literally means Lineage (वंशावळ), Race (कुळातील लोक), family and `Purusha’ means the Super entity, soul, even chief or ancestor of the family in which Kul has progeniated.

KULPURUSH:-  is the protector of his clan or families, same way as Kuldev/Devi, with whom we seek for divine protection and guidance.

We know when we are faced with problem, we seek the sought (Guidance) and blessings from Kuldev/ Devi Same way we seek blessings, protection and guidance from Kulpurush also.

Among the Hindu deities, Kuldevta/Kuldevi (Family deity) has always occupied an important place in the Hindu Family Worship.

“ KULADEVATA” : – kula-dèvatā (कुलदेवता) or Kuladevi (कुलदेवी) also known as Kuladev (कुलदेव) and Kuladaivat, (कुलदैवत) stands for “lineage deity, that is either a god or a goddess” within Hinduism, as distinct from personal Ishta-devata and village deities.

“KULDEV” :-  “Shree Ramnath Betal” earstwhile Lotlium village in salcette, presently at Ramnathi in  Ponda taluka, is the  Kuladevata of all Daivadnya Lotlikar’s of Kaundinnya Gotra.

Hindu families make a pilgrimage to the Kuladevata or Kuladevi temple to obtain the blessing of the deity after an auspicious occasion such as Thread ceremony, wedding, and other auspicious events.

Grāmadevatā (Sanskrit ग्रामदेवता Grāmadevatā “village deity”, from Grāma “village, village settlement” and devatā “deity”) is the name of the presiding deity or guardian deity (patron deity), usually a Goddess, worshipped in villages in Goa. Although Grāmadevatās are most often Goddesses, there are a few notable male exceptions.

All the village people of Veroda (Verdde) worship “Shree Shantadurga Verddekarin” as their Gramadevata, temple of “Shree Shantadurga Verddekarin”   is located just few Kilometres away (1.5 KM) from our Kulpurush temple
